Sen. Daniel Inouye introduced legislation on Friday that would provide $20 million in federal funds for a September 11 Memorial and Museum at Ground Zero. 

That money would go toward operation and maintenance costs, and would have to be matched by non-federal sources, like revenue from fundraising or admissions fees.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo thanked Inouye for his leadership in a statement issued by Inouye’s office. 

“It is truly a national monument in New York and I appreciate the Senator’s work to bring federal support to help ensure all who want to come and visit the memorial can for generations to come,” Cuomo said.  …
