A spokeswoman for Hanabusa provided this statement: “Before the USS Carl Vinson stopped at Pearl Harbor, Osama bin Laden’s body was prepared for burial and laid to rest in the North Arabian Sea in a manner that complied with Islamic practice and tradition. Congresswoman Hanabusa highlighted the burial to illustrate how the vast Pacific Ocean connects different regions and bodies of water.”
