Big day in federal court tomorrow for the $5.26 billion Honolulu rail project.

It could be the last day for attorneys to argue their sides in a lawsuit that alleges the city and Federal Transit Administration violated environmental and historic preservation laws when choosing to move forward with the rail project.

One of the plaintiffs in the case is former Hawaii Gov. Ben Cayetano, who is running for Honolulu mayor against former Managing Director Kirk Caldwell.

Rail, of course, is the big dividing issue between the two. Cayetano wants to end the project. Caldwell wants to keep it going.
