Capitol Watch reports:
It was held Thursday (Aug. 16) by the General Contactors’ Association of Hawaii. Media wasn’t allowed.
Hopefully there will be other opportunities to see Colleen Hanabusa and Charles Djou go at it.
Here’s what the Djou campaign had to say about the GCA gig:
During the forum, Hanabusa spent much of the time criticizing Paul Ryan while Charles spoke of how he would create jobs and expand small business. At one point, Hanabusa was asked what she thought could be done to solve the political stalemate in Congress. Half in jest, she responded “don’t vote for ANY Republicans.”
While Hanabusa might have been smiling when she made this remark, it reveals her deeper philosophy that our democracy fares better under one-party rule. She has thrived under one-party machine rule in Hawaii and believes America would be better off under one-party monolithic rule by Democrats.
Hanabusa campaign spokesperson Richard Rapoza had this to say:
“Despite Charles Djou’s over-simplification, not every disagreement with the opposing party is partisan.
“Colleen Hanabusa has clearly stated her position that she opposes the mission of Congressional Republicans to cut Social Security, decimate Medicaid, and end Medicare as we know it. That is not partisanship; it is a matter of continuing to stand up for seniors and the less fortunate, a commitment that she will continue as long as it is necessary to oppose those who would do otherwise. …
