It’s official. Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle is a lame duck.

Carlisle was the third place vote-getter in the Saturday primary. This means former Gov. Ben Cayetano and former Honolulu Managing Director Kirk Caldwell will be moving on to the Nov. 6 General Election.

But why did Carlisle, who already beat Caldwell once in a mayoral race, lose this time?
