What could be done to facilitate the integration of solar energy generation and use in Hawaii?

  1. A previous version of this story incorrectly said that HECO would grandfather in solar systems that were installed before the September 6 deadline. Rather, HECO will grandfather in projects in which a net energy metering agreement was submitted to HECO prior to the deadline. The difference is significant because some customers had their systems installed before the September 6 deadline, but their NEM agreements were submitted to HECO after the deadline. These customers are still stuck in limbo.
