Artists Celebrate Pow! Wow! Hawaii in Kakaako

·By civilbeat

Kakaako has become a lot more colorful this week thanks to Pow! Wow! Hawaii, an annual art festival that brings together artists from around the world to create murals and share other forms of art.

The festival wraps up today and tomorrow with a party this evening to celebrate a print and toy exhibition and a block party tomorrow. (Click here for the full schedule.)

Much of the art can be seen just by walking around the neighborhood and watching artists transform building exteriors. But there are also several exhibits within various galleries, as well as at the Honolulu Museum of Art.

1XRun and Pangea Seed are sponsoring tonight’s party with exhibits at Fresh Cafe and Loft in Space.

Tomorrow’s block party, organized by Pow! Pow! Hawaii and Honolulu Night Market, will include a fashion show by Illest and Puffer Hawaii, live music by Architect By Day, Robin Delight, Sebastian Hughes and Super HiFi, and food and fashion vendors.

Even though the festival officially ends this weekend, not all the exhibits will close. CoXist Studio‘s exhibit featuring Gideon Gerlt and E. Spencer Agoston, will be open until Feb. 21.
