Former U.S. Rep. Charles Djou, a Republican, officially announced today that he is running for Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District seat.
Djou himself broke the news on KSSK.
Djou briefly served in Congress in 2010 when he won a special election to replace Neil Abercrombie, who resigned to run for governor. Colleen Hanabusa, a Democrat, defeated Djou in the general election that year.
Hanabusa is now running for the U.S. Senate. Seven Democrats are running for her CD1 seat.
