Our Friend or Foam series started in the trash. We wanted to know why so much plastic foam ends up in the garbage after lunch each day.
Teachers and environmentalists were asking a related question at Punahou School last week — “Can You Be Plastic Free?”
“Why are we using some of the most durable material on earth — plastic — for single-use purposes?” asked Aulani Wilhelm, with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
