Despite Expected Influx of Prostitutes for APEC, No Arrests — So Far
11/09/2011Editor's note: Look to Civil Beat for a daily report on Honolulu arrests during APEC.
We heard a lot about the expected influx of prostitutes to Waikiki during APEC.
But if police arrest logs are any indication, prostitution has all but disappeared in Honolulu.
The Honolulu Police Department has not made a single prostitution arrest for a week.
The last prostitution-related arrests occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 2, when officers picked up six men, including one for street solicitation. All were arrested in Waikiki, near Kaiulani Avenue.
Civil Beat has been checking the police blotter every day.
And despite an expected APEC crowd of more than 20,000 delegates, there wasn't a single arrest in Waikiki on Tuesday night.
