A Fourth of July Quiz — and Opinions
This year for the Fourth of July we asked readers a fundamental question:
"If the Declaration of Independence were written today, what about our society would future generations look back on and question?
"What would not seem to live up to the ideals of the declaration?"
Four students working as interns with the ACLU of Hawaii have written articles in response. Perhaps they'll prompt others to reflect on the same question. If you want to have your say, click on this article and join the conversation.
We hope you'll take the time to read the students' thoughts:
- Sun Young Park on marriage equality
- Chelsey Stewart on reproductive rights
- Holly Berlin on the lack of social mobility
- Ari Freilich on progress toward equality
We're also sharing a First Amendment Quiz, a 20-question online test of your "Freedom IQ."
Enjoy the holiday.
