Adrienne LaFrance

Adrienne LaFrance is a reporter in the Nieman Journalism Lab at Harvard University and a Civil Beat contributor based in Cambridge, Mass., and Washington, D.C.

Adrienne focuses on Hawaii's congressional delegation and federal agencies that do business with the state. She examines the connection between Hawaii and Washington, covers elections and places Hawaii issues in a national context. She opened Civil Beat's Washington Bureau in 2011.

Before that, Adrienne was Civil Beat's Honolulu reporter, where she covered city government and local issues. She has worked as a local news anchor for Hawaii Public Radio, Hawaii’s NPR affiliate, and served as managing editor of Honolulu Weekly. Adrienne also worked as a producer and news writer at WBUR, Boston's NPR affiliate, and has reported and written as a freelancer for several magazines.

Adrienne taught journalism at the University of Hawaii and remains active on the board of the Society of Professional Journalists Hawaii Chapter. The National Constitution Center selected her as a 2010 Peter Jennings fellow. She earned her B.A. in journalism from Michigan State University and her M.S. in journalism from Boston University.
