Hawaii Key Players

Power in Hawaii resides in a number of elected offices, appointed government officials, public labor unions, local financial institutions, landowners and a number of businesses involved primarily in tourism and development. Honolulu, as Hawaii’s capital city, is the seat of state government, and the governor is the top elected officials. The four island counties are administered by elected mayors and Councils. Hawaii's congressional delegation, especially senior U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye (D), is active in state issues.
