Honolulu City Council Elections 2010
The Nov. 2, 2010 general election determined the four new members of the Honolulu City Council's nine-member body. The four seats in the election were vacated by Donovan Dela Cruz (District 2), Rod Tam (District 6), Lee Donohue (District 4) and Gary Okino (District 8).
Two council members, Dela Cruz and Tam, reached their term limits. Tam ran for mayor and Dela Cruz ran for a state Senate seat.
City council members are limited to two consecutive four-year terms.
Former Honolulu Police Chief Donohue, who represented District 4, did not run to keep his seat. He was appointed to serve the remainder of Charles Djou's term after Djou won the May 2010 special election to represent Hawaii's 1st Congressional District. Okino, of District 8, also reached his term limit.
