Tim Garry was one of 10 candidates in the nonpartisan Honolulu City Council race for District 6. District 6 covers a portion of Makiki, Downtown Honolulu, Punchbowl, Liliha, Pauoa Valley, Nuuanu, Alewa Heights, Papakolea, Kalihi Valley and some of Kalihi.
In the Sept. 18 primary election, Garry came 9th in the race, getting 219 votes, or 0.9 percent. The winner in the primary was Tamayo with 6,467 votes, or 26.8 percent. Moepono was the runner-up with 3,956 votes, or 16.4 percent. Because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote, Tamayo and Moepono will advance to the general election on Nov. 2.
